Topping the Ranks

WCCC OmniumWith only two weeks left in the collegiate road race season, HSU Cycling now leads all the D2 teams in the Western Collegiate Cycling Conference. The team moved up in the omnium after a successful home race weekend that included a time trial, road race and crit. “This is great news,” said HSU Cycling Coach Vicky Sama. “If we keep it up, we should be on the podium at conference.”

The next collegiate races are at Reno followed by conference championships on April 20 and 21 at Davis.

Fingers crossed! Hope the weather in Reno decides to be normal for once!

Ha! Yea, Hayley! The weather is always crazy when we head to the Sierras, like that time when we went to the Reno road races and it dumped so much snow on Donner Pass that half the team had to turn back and stay at the Ramseth house in Auburn. Good thing we have some thoughtful parents out there who don’t mind a dozen or two stinky, tired and hungry cyclists who show up at 1:00 a.m.! (And the ladies car made it over!)
