Luke Ramseth raced for the HSU Cycling Team from 2009-2012. He represented HSU at Collegiate National Championships three times– once at mountain bike nationals and twice for road. His finished in the top ten in the national road race championships in Ogden, Utah in May 2012. He was crowned Western Collegiate Cycling Conference Champion twice, and it would have been more if he didn’t spend that year racing for Fort Lewis College in Durango.

“He is an incredible athlete and the perfect student,” said Vicky Sama, HSU Cycling club coach and Ramseth’s journalism teacher.

Ramseth graduated from Humboldt State University with a journalism degree in May 2012. He worked at the Eureka Times-Standard newspaper until Feb. 2013, and now is a reporter at the Orange County Register. And of course, he still rides his bike… hard.

“He will be successful in whatever path he chooses,” Sama said.  “Of course, I’d like to see him at the Tour de France now because he can win a Pulitzer later.”
