Building Trail: HSU Cycling Digs It!

King Range Trail Day

By Vicky Sama, HSU Cycling Coach

shovel king rangeAbout 40 volunteers from Humboldt State University Cycling Club, Bigfoot Bicycle Club and the International Mountain Bicycling Association, among others, helped finish the new pumptrack return trail at the Paradise Royale on Sept. 11, 2010. Volunteers worked for more than three hours to finish the one-mile section of trail located at the Tolkan Campground. Cyclists can now ride up to the top of the double-black, black and blue downhill trails on the new return trail without having to interfere with downhill traffic. After the work was done, we put down our shovels and rode the trail like rock stars. The Paradise Royale is in the King Range National Conservation Area near Shelter Cove, Calif.

This is what you can do when you pull a community of cyclists together. Ride it out!
