This is the official Humboldt State Cycling blog. The goal of this site is to keep club members and fans up to date on the latest with HSU cycling.
We ride the rough roads of Humboldt County in the spring semester, and the muddy trails of the Arcata Community Forest in the fall, while competing up and down California in the Western Collegiate Cycling Conference (WCCC). HSU competes against schools such as Cal Berkeley, UC Davis, Chico State, Cal Poly SLO, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, Stanford and University of Nevada, Reno, among others. We strive to represent our school and sponsors as well as possible, while providing a club that’s open to both those new to the sport and seasoned racers.
We are multiple-time WCCC Div. 2 champions, and we’ve had two individual national champions in mountain biking–one in downhill, one in cross-country. Our team is always growing, and you’re welcome to join no matter what level you are.
We host our own collegiate mountain bike race and a road race right here in Humboldt County each fall and spring. Come out to spectate and support the team!

My name is Ian and I’m considering joining/ applying to be on your road cycling team next year when I’m a freshman there.
Is there a good place to put your bikes on campus? Apparently we are not allowed to bring them into the rooms which, imo, sucks…

I don’t think anyone will stop you from storing it in your room (if you can find the space). I stored both my nice bikes in the dorm room last year. Some buildings have bike storage rooms, too.

Since the MTB schedule has been posted is there a hotel/place that the school or team recommends that is close to the race course for the race at the beginning of October?
